About the event
Get ready to brighten up your space with a whimsical touch of Polish folk art and tradition.  We will touch upon the use and significance of the Pajaki so it can be whatever you want it to be and mean for you.  Bring any trinket, fabric or scrap that means something to you - so we can weave it into your pajaki. Pajaki's also represent a connection to nature, as many of the materials used in their creation are sourced from the natural world. Additionally, Pajaki are considered to be symbols of happiness, good fortune, and harmony within the household.
In this workshop, you'll learn the art of crafting your very own paper chandelier called a pajaki (pie-jonky). We'll guide you through every step of the process, from selecting vibrant papers to assembling intricate designs that will light up any dull corner of your home. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a complete beginner, this workshop is perfect for anyone with a love for color and creativity!
Materials Included:
- Assorted colorful papers in various patterns and sizes
- Bamboo hoops or wire frames for the chandelier structure
- Decorative ribbons and trims
- Beads, sequins, and other embellishments for added flair
- Glue, scissors, and other crafting essentials
- Instruction booklet with step-by-step guides and design inspirations
Workshop Agenda:
- Introduction to Pajaki: Learn about the history and significance of pajaki in Polish folk art. A few short stories will be discussed.
- Getting Started: Select your favorite papers and design your chandelier pattern.
- Crafting the Structure: Assemble the hoops to form the base of your pajaki.
- Paper Magic: Cut, fold, and glue colorful papers to create intricate decorations for your chandelier.
- Let's Decorate: Add beads, fabric, ribbons, and other embellishments to make your pajaki sparkle and shine.
- Hang It Up: Find the perfect spot to display your finished pajaki and bask in the colorful glow of your handcrafted masterpiece.
