About the event
Ryas are a knotted pile carpet, which exhibit rich color and texture. Rya's date back to the 15th century and have been used as clothing, bedspreads and finally carpets. Shaggy and colorful Rya rugs gained popularity in the 1970's and continue to be sought after by collectors today. With this workshop you will learn the basics of Rya rug making: backing fabric, yarn, needles, pattern making and the knot. You will leave with a small sample of your own with resources to buy materials to create a full size Rya rug of your own.
Includes all materials to make a sample piece (cute for hanging), instruction and resources to continue your Rya journey!
