About the event
In this hands-on workshop you will learn the basics of shibori-inspired folding and binding techniques to create beautiful patterns on fabric with natural and synthetic colorants. We will discuss various dyeing processes and color alterations that can take place when dyeing with natural colorants in addition to setting up indoor and outdoor dyeing spaces. By the end of class, you will be amazed as the stunning one-of-a-kind patterns are unfolded and revealed!
A 13” square cotton tea towel and a tote bag will be provided for dyeing. You may bring one small item of your own to dye, which must be of a natural fiber such as cotton or silk. No large items like bed sheets or fabric yardage.
There could be some drips, so wearing clothes that you wouldn’t mind getting stained is encouraged!
This workshop is open to ages 18 and older, adolescents ages 14-18 considered with accompanying adult.
